On 10th December 2017 a vigil was held outside Morton Hall Detention Centre by LeedsNoBorders following the death of a man who had been unnecessarily held in detention for over 2 years. Dr. Ahmad had lived in the UK for 27 years.
He fell sick on Monday, and was kept in his room by staff – who said they would return – for over 3 hours until they finally called for an ambulance which took him to the hospital, where he died.
The Home Office had the audacity to sign Dr. Ahmad’s release papers whilst he was dying in hospital following their lack of medical care as to avoid yet another death in detention being on their watch. (read more)
